Meet the CEO
Sharon Liebowitz is the CEO and founder of Advocate Alliance.
Sharon was born in New York. She grew up caring for her aging grandmother. As a result, from a very young age, she developed an appreciation for the elderly and an understanding of their need to be treated with dignity and respect. In addition, Sharon had the privilege of spending her summers in Brazil. There, she saw first-hand the dire need and poverty that some children were forced to endure. Seeing this tremendous need, instilled a sense of compassion and empathy for others. Little did she know how these events would steer the course of her life.
After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Sharon spent over 25 years working for government agencies throughout the State of Florida advocating for the needs of others. During those years she developed an even greater understanding and passion for Social Services.
She was so moved by people in need and a desire to help make a difference in their lives that in 2001 she relocated to Brazil and became a missionary working with underprivileged children in orphanages, foster care, Bible study groups and free daycare centers. There she founded and was the CEO of Majestic Destiny for over ten years. At its peak, the organization had 250 employees, ran 12 orphanages, 3 daycare centers, and provided oversight to over 60 Bible study groups. The organization continues to support social service entities that assist hundreds of children every week.
After returning to the States, Sharon began to recognize the ever-increasing need of the elderly in South Florida. She had the opportunity to work with a number of clients and noticed the challenges they faced handling everyday tasks on a regular basis while living far away from family members. It quickly became clear that they were not the only ones struggling in this aging process. The family members were frustrated, exhausted, and often in despair not knowing how to balance time between the needs of their own households and those of an aging parent who lived far away.
Once again, moved with compassion, Sharon felt compelled to do something about the situation. It was at that point that she decided to start her own organization – Advocate Alliance. The focus is to advocate for the elderly’s financial, physical, and emotional needs while forming much-needed alliances with family members providing peace of mind through expert advice and oversight. The goal is to allow the elderly the option of living independently for as long as they choose to do so.
